For that reason, many royal family members tend to attend, although Queen Elizabeth does not have an active role in the events.

I am reminded why being a California resident is so desirable now that the rainy, cold days of winter have been replaced by the pleasant temperatures of spring . The hillsides are cloaked in vibrant green grass and dotted with poppies. Our wide open beaches are still too chilly for water sport seeking tourists and belong to the locals. The peachy-pink sunsets and velvet blue night skies blend into our majestic mountains on the horizon.. It simply is heaven on earth. My family and I have begun spending much of our weekends outside since all this beauty is just outside our door.. We have enjoyed day trips to Big Bear to engage in snowball fights andspontaneous picnics in meadows at the side of Ortega Highway There have been sun filled and exhausting days spent peddling our beach cruisers back and forth on the boardwalk between the Huntington, Newport and Balboa Piers, followed by evening marshmallow roasts at the fire pits on the beach. Yes, life is good. For each of these little journeys we pack an arsenal of supplies; Frisbees, a playing cards, blankets, beach towels, sunscreen, lip balm, snacks, sodas, cold water and so on. My most beloved of all these little provisions is the Ice Mule. My husband picked up Thinking it was something we could use one day, he brought one home. He was right. We rarely leave home without this beverage cooler, our snacks and drinks stay cold for hours and hours.. In fact, I recently realized that it had been left in our SUV overnight and was not looking forward to extracting the deviled eggs that surely would emit lethal fumes upon removal from their Tupperware grave. What a surprise I got when I opened the insulated bag to discover that everything inside was still cold to the touch! Twenty four hours later the Ice Mule was still working hard. Now I take the Ice Mule with me to the grocery store. I transfer the perishable items into my cooler bag and carry on with my errands all over town before returning home. Quite simply, I love this thing! It won’t be long now till the California shoreline become congested, noisy meccas for the masses and the lush green countryside will turn a drab shade of brown. . Tourists will be searching for parking spots nearest to the beach (hint, these don’t exist in the summer) and traffic on PCH will be reduced to a slow crawl. You can bet that our Mule will be with us to keep our beverages, munchies, sun tan lotion and temperaments cool when we do feel brave enough fight the summer crowds. On the mega hot 90 degree days, which we always get toward the end of summer, it will be time to sit by the pool with our soda pop, ice tea and lemonade. Even though the kitchen will be only be a few feet away I intend to use the Ice Mule poolside. In fact I might not move from my lounge chair all summer long.
